WHAT WE DO...
The Southern British Car Club of Greater Chattanooga (SBCC) is a very active British Car Club. While we try to have activities every month, you may choose to only participate in one or two events per year, or maybe you will want to “drive the wheels off” as long time member Charles Long is fond of saying. It is your decision how much you participate.
Below is a brief description of several of our activities:

Below is a brief description of several of our activities:
- British Fools Bash is a yearly activity held in late March or early April around April 1st. This is a gathering of the British Car Clubs in East Tennessee. These clubs rotate hosting the event. They are: English Auto, Blount British, and Plateau British. There are 2 other British clubs in East Tennessee, MG Drivers, and Appalachian British Motoring. Our club will host the event once every four years.
- Cambridge Square : This event started in 2018. The first Monday night of each month we gather at Cambridge Square in Ooltewah. This is a cruise-in for all types of cars and pickup trucks. We generally look at cars, talk about cars, and grab a bite to eat. Note that local car clubs meet every Monday night, but the first Monday of the month is when the SBCC specifically gathers.
- “Gathering at the Sonic” : From May through September we gather at the Sonic in Ooltewah on the third Friday of each month at 7PM for hamburgers or hot dogs then half-price milk shakes at 8PM. We have a lot of good conversation sometimes lasting until 9 or 10PM.
- Monthly Drives : We try to have monthly drives. The mileage is approximately 200 to 250 miles depending on where you start. January 1 is the New Years Day Drive, in March there is the St. Patrick’s Day Drive. During the summer months the drives are often going to a British car shows in Townsend, Morristown or Rugby, TN, Dillard, GA and Rogersville, AL. We have done Sunday afternoon drives, but most are on Saturday.
- Annual British Car Show : The club has held an annual All British car show in October since the early 1990s, often having over 100 cars. While we were at the Chattanooga Choo Choo for 25 years we had to move to a new location. In recent years, the show has been held at Cambridge Square, in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
- Cars and Coffee : Multiple clubs meet locally on Saturday or Sunday for informal gatherings, and our members often participate. The SBCC has recently identified Cambridge Square as our club Cars & Coffee - on a designated Saturday at 9am.
- And we add activities around the region ad hoc! Take a look at our Facebook page. Facebook is both a formal and ad hoc announcement site for our club activities, area events, or even other club happenings. The Facebook group is populated by both official Southern British Car Club members and non-members. This page is private. There are more than 400 members and growing.
- As you see we offer a variety of activities. Pick and choose what you want to do. Make friends with other British car enthusiast and JOIN THE FUN.
